Why does a Marriage Certificate require legalisation?
If you would like to live in another jurisdiction with your spouse, you might be required to provide an apostilled marriage certificate as proof of your marriage. E apostille service is not available for public documents such as birth or marriage certificates.
Apostille certificates can only be issued in paper form. e apostille certificate cannot be issued on foreign public documents. Only UK documents can apply for e apostille at the Legalisation Office. Documents legalised by way of apostille stamp are recognised by Hague apostille convention countries.
Consular legalisation is required where the foreign countries have not signed the Hague agreement.
Can I apostille a copy of my Marriage Certificate?

Do I have to also apply for consular legalization?
