Qatar is not a member of the Hague Convention Abolishing Foreign Legalization of 1961 therefore all UK documents for use in Qatar must bear apostille certificate issued by the Foreign Office by way of Hague apostille. Apostille certificates issued by the UK Legalisation Office are mandatory before legalisation at the Embassy of Qatar in London.

An Apostille certificate is required for all documents issued in the UK and for all foreign public documents.

Personal documents must be individually certified by the UK Foreign Office. Personal documents include Police Clearance – Criminal Record Clearance, Fingerprints,

Copy of Passports, Drivers License, Medical Report, Birth, Marriage, Divorce Certificate

Court Order, Inheritance Will, Change of Name Notification, or Personal Power of Attorney

Educational documents : 

Post-Graduate Degree, Higher Education Degree, College Certificates or Diploma

Degree Certificates:

All Higher Education and Further Education certificates are submitted to the Embassy of the State of Qatar’s legalisation department. They must be supported by a cover letter and an academic transcript.

Degree certificate, transcript, and Confirmation Letter must be apostilled by the legalisation department of the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office and the FCDO separately. Below supporting educational documents listed.

The academic transcript should be stamped or signed by the registry of your University and be on official letter-headed paper. If you do not have an academic transcript you will need to contact your University to request one.

Distance Learning

The Embassy of the State of Qatar does not recognise any educational certificate or documents obtained via distance learning or online learning, with the exception of post-graduate MSC and Ph.D. degree, and therefore certificates obtained from distance learning will not be accepted by the Embassy of the State of Qatar even if are certified with the Hague apostille issued by the UK Foreign Office.

How can I check if the document can be legalised?

Apostille certificate can be issued for any type of document you have. Some of the documents require a UK solicitor or notary public certification, other documents can be legalised as original documents.
