Taiwan is not a member of the Hague Convention Abolishing Foreign Legalization of 1961 therefore all UK documents for use in Taiwan for work, business, and legal matters need to be attested. The apostille certificates issued by the UK Legalisation Office the FCDO are mandatory before legalisation at the ROC Embassy in London.
An Apostille certificate is required for all documents issued in the UK and for all foreign public documents.

The application Form for legalization must be completed and signed by the applicant and the Agent.
A copy of the passport must be provided for both the applicant ( director of the company) and the Agent. Proof of acting as director of the company Companies House extract is sufficient.
Company and the Agent certificate of incorporation are also required.
Authorization letter, notarized by the local Notary Public.
Educational documents must be first certified by a solicitor or Notary Public.
If certifying a copy of a UK document, the practicing solicitor or notary public MUST verify the authenticity and content of the document with the issuing authority/institution and make a statement confirming that the verification has been carried out and that such document is genuine and authentic as issued by the relevant authority/institution.
The statement “true copy of the original” is not acceptable to the Taipei Representative Office in the UK.
Documents originating in the British Overseas Territories ( BVI, Cayman) for use in Taiwan must be apostilled by the Governor’s office- Foreign Affairs first. FCDO in the UK must re-apostille the documents before submitting them at the Taipei Representative Office
Documents issued in the British Crown Dependency( Jersey, Guernsey, and Isle of Man) must also be apostilled in the jurisdiction of origin by competent authorities and re-apostilled by the legalization department of Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office the FCDO in Milton Keynes. I am relocating to Taiwan do I need to legalise my documents at the PRC consulate?
Documents must be attested by the Taipei Representative Office ROC in London, not the PRC.
Most documents for use in PRC do not require further legalisation. If the document originates in the UK apostille is the only requirement. You can use our apostille services for all types of documents from commercial to UK government-issued documents. Document issued in a foreign language must be translated into English before a Hague apostille can be issued.
What documents you can legalise?
We can obtain Hague apostille for most of the public documents such, as court documents, death certificates, adoption certificates, civil partnership documents, birth certificates, and other documents. Most of the above must be original documents. Documents certified as true copies by a UK solicitor cannot be accepted. Foreign documents can be legalised on a case by case basis.
What type of documents do I need to legalise to work in Taiwan?
To apply for a Taiwanese working visa you would have to submit the following documents along with the Visa application form
Health certificate, issued within the last three months, legalised by the ROC Embassy in London.
Documents related to your educational and professional qualifications, if you are planning to teach English your TEFL, CELTA, or TESOL. Educational documents must be apostilled and legalized by the Taiwan embassy.
ACRO Police certificate must be also apostilled and legalized by the ROC consulate in London.
Apart from documents that must be legalized, you would also need to provide your identity documents along with the validity of your passport at least 6 months from the date of entry into Taiwan.
