UK documents and foreign public documents for use in the UAE must be certified, apostilled, and attested by the UAE embassy. Some of the documents such as birth certificates, and death certificates require apostille certificte on original documents.
Documents legalised as copies will not be accepted by the UAE embassy in London. If the signatures on Court documents are not recognised by the UK government office, a signed and certified copy must be issued.
The UK government office, foreign office (FCDO) is the only body that issue an apostille and e apostille. On 5 October 1961 UK signed the Hague Convention agreement abolishing the requirement of legalisation for foreign documents. The convention applies to all members who have signed to the Hague Convention of 5 October.

Legalization of documents at the UAE consulate in London typically involves a process where official documents are authenticated for use in the United Arab Emirates. We assist with the attestation of documents issued in the UK at the Legalisation Office, UAE embassy in London, and MOFA Dubai. Documents issued, and signed by the public official must be apostilled by the Legalisation Office to obtain an apostille certificate. Once the apostille certificate is issued by the Legalisation Office we can apply for the documents to be legalised. Attestation by the UAE embassy is crucial for all personal documents that require solicitor certification.

We can advise on e apostille service where applicable. The e apostille service can only be offered to UK documents. The same day service at the legalisation office is currently suspended. Please be aware that MOFA, competent authorities for public documents legalisation will charge for each document separately including Memorandum & Articles of Association regardless that in many jurisdictions M&As are treated as one constitutional document.
If you are moving to UAE for work purposes you will require your educational document apostilled by the Legalisation Office and attested by the UAE consulate. If you are planning to relocate to UAE with your family you would also be required to legalise birth and your marriage certificate.
UAE degree attestation service
Degree and transcript are also treated as two separate documents and cannot be bound together. Please note that the UAE might reject your Educational documents even if they have been apostilled by the UK Foreign Office. The UAE embassy stamps each document separately and provides an online payment receipt.
UAE attestation fee varies depending on the exchange rate and type of documents
The UAE consulate accept original, certified copies and certified PDF electronic version of the documents as long they bear the Hague apostille issued by the legalisation department of the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office, the FCDO. Apostille issued by the legalisation department of the UK Foreign Office does not guarantee that legalisation by the UAE consulate will be completed.
On a case by cases basis corporate documents issued in a foreign jurisdiction can be legalised at the UAE consulate once they have been apostilled/legalised in the country of origin, legalised by the foreign mission in London, certified by a Notary or solicitor, and apostilled by the UK Foreign Office by way of an apostille.
Documents executed in the British Overseas Territories ( BVI, Cayman) for use in UAE are treated as foreign public documents and they must be separately apostilled by the Governor’s office first. Original documents issued in the BVI cannot be legalised without a BVI apostille. The Foreign Office in the UK will re-apostille the documents by way of Hague apostille for the UAE consulate to attest it.

As of December 2023, All documents related to the company such as Power of Attorney, Board Resolution, Affidavits, and Consent Letters must comply with UAE verification requirements.
Cover Letter Mandate: Each signatory on the document must provide a cover letter confirming that the signatory has signed the document in the presence of the Notary Public, Solicitor, or Commissioner of Oath,
Passport Copy: each signatory must provide their passport copies
Contact information: each signatory must provide personal contact information which will be verified by UAE consular staff

Do you provide urgent apostille service?
We provide standard service which is currently the next working day service. Urgent, same day service is no longer available by the Legalisation Office the FCDO. Some of the foreign public documents we have to submit to the foreign consulate before the Hague apostille. Other documents such as court documents bearing official stamp, can be apostilled without public official certification. What is the apostille certificate?
Apostille Certificate is an official government issued certificate added to the document for recognition in other jurisdiction. Apostille certificate is issued by countries that have signed the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961 abolishing the requirement of legalisation. Each apostille has an apostille certificate number that can be checked on the legalisation office website. Apostille certificate can’t be used in countries that have not signed the convention of 5 October.
Can original documents be legalised?
You can get original documents legalised if they have been issued by a: court, or public registry, such as a birth, marriage, or death certificate. You can also get the company documents legalised once the documents are issued by the Companies House. Document apostilled by the FCDO will be signed by UAE consular officers. All Public documents executed in the UK can be legalised as original documents.

What is the attestation process?
The documents must be first apostilled in the respective foreign office, foreign affairs, and re apostille if required by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in the UK. To have your company documents attested they must be attested at the territory concerned before submitting documents to the UAE embassy. Similar legal documents must be attested by way of an apostille stamp. All UK company documents must be certified separately.

The time frame at UAE consulate legalisation varies, depending on their workload. There is no express service available. The legalisation process can be tracked via the MOFA website, and a notification once the documents have been signed is sent to the registered email address. Normally attestation takes around 5-7 working days to complete.
UAE consulate no longer offers to walk in service and the option of logging the documents in person and collection on the same day basis is not available since Apil 2020.
